Data Architect

Role Overview

The role involves designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining the organization's comprehensive data architecture. The candidate will ensure effective management of data assets aligned with business goals while implementing robust data governance and security.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and execute a data architecture framework supporting enterprise objectives.
• Develop comprehensive data models and establish standards and guidelines for data integration, migration, and management processes.
• Create and update data dictionaries containing metadata and definitions to facilitate organizational data understanding.
• Maintain data quality by ensuring accuracy, consistency, and reliability through established metrics and continual monitoring.
• Implement and enforce data security policies and governance to safeguard organizational data assets.
• Collaborate with IT teams, including database administrators, data analysts, and software developers, to integrate data architecture with other technological systems.
• Continuously research and evaluate emerging data management technologies and trends for potential incorporation.
• Engage with stakeholders to align data architecture strategies with overall business objectives and data requirements.

Mandatory Technical Skills

• Proficiency in AWS Cloud Services including EC2, S3, and IAM.
• Experience with programming languages like Python, PySpark, and AWS Lambda.
• Expertise in ETL tools and processes, particularly AWS Glue and Database Migration Service (DMS).
• Familiarity with database technologies such as Databricks, Oracle, SQL Server, Snowflake, and Redshift.
• Strong knowledge in data modeling, including data mesh, medallion architecture, and enterprise data warehousing concepts.

Educational and Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in Engineering or Computer Science (full-time program).
• Minimum of 2 years’ tenure per previous employer.
• Certification in database management is advantageous.
• Deep experience in conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling, with skills to translate business needs into technical models.
• Competence in diverse data management technologies such as relational and NoSQL databases, data lakes, and warehouses.
• Advanced ETL design and implementation skills, including data extraction, transformation, and loading.
• Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools and processes.
• Familiarity with established data architecture frameworks like TOGAF and Zachman.
• Experience designing data architectures for cloud platforms, both public and private.
