Job description
Position Overview
This role is based in Toronto with a hybrid work arrangement that includes onsite visits to client locations downtown. The candidate must either already possess or be eligible to obtain federal-level security clearance. As a Cybersecurity Advisor specializing in Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC), you will be integral in protecting the organization's information assets by evaluating and approving the effectiveness of security controls to ensure adherence to regulatory standards and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute detailed security evaluations of information systems to identify vulnerabilities and threats.
- Work closely with various departments to implement and improve security measures.
- Create and sustain security authorization documentation such as Security Assessment Reports (SARs) and Authorization Packages.
- Conduct risk analyses and propose strategies to reduce potential security risks.
- Keep updated on the latest industry trends, emerging cyber threats, and best practices to advance the organization's security framework.
- Contribute to the formulation and enforcement of security policies, standards, and procedures.
- Support incident response activities, including investigation and the execution of remedial actions.
Candidate Requirements
- Federal security clearance or eligibility to obtain one is mandatory.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related discipline.
- At least 10 years of experience in security assessment and authorization, including policy and procedure development within SA&A frameworks.
- Comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity standards and frameworks such as NIST and ISO 27001.
- Proven experience in performing security and vulnerability assessments.
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols, system architectures, and security technologies.
- Professional certifications like CISSP, CISM, or CISA are highly preferred.
- Effective communication skills suitable for translating complex technical topics for diverse audiences.

This position offers an estimated salary range from $90,000 to $145,000 annually, based on factors including expertise, market conditions, experience, and professional qualifications.
