Job description
Role Overview
As a Cyber Vulnerability Researcher, you will be responsible for identifying security weaknesses in operating systems, software applications, and hardware through techniques such as code auditing, black box testing, and reverse engineering. This role involves creating and refining tools and methodologies to efficiently detect and classify vulnerabilities, as well as continuously researching novel vulnerability discovery methods.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth research to uncover vulnerabilities across various platforms and devices via code audits, black box testing, and reverse engineering.
- Design and improve procedures and tools used for identifying and managing discovered vulnerabilities.
- Stay abreast of and investigate cutting-edge techniques and methods in the field of vulnerability discovery.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Possess a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent experience paired with at least three years in a relevant cybersecurity or vulnerability research role.
- Demonstrate strong reverse engineering capabilities, including experience with firmware, complex software, or operating system components.
- Maintain current knowledge of various software vulnerabilities and experience identifying them on diverse operating systems, applications, or hardware.
- Understand modern exploitation strategies and have practical experience crafting proof-of-concept exploits to bypass security mitigations.
- Skilled in utilizing static and dynamic software analysis tools as part of reverse engineering and vulnerability discovery, with the ability to customize or develop tools to enhance these processes.
- Familiarity with applying artificial intelligence techniques to support vulnerability research activities.
- Proficient in software development using C/C++ and scripting languages such as Python or Ruby.
