Role Overview
As a Cyber Security Architect, you will lead the evolution and configuration of the technology, platforms, and processes powering our Security Operations Centre (SOC). You’ll provide visionary technical leadership to enhance our ability to detect, respond to, and remediate cyber threats for a diverse customer base.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop strategies, technology roadmaps, platforms, and operational workflows for the SOC.
- Design and improve managed security services, including SIEM-as-a-Service, Extended Detection and Response (XDR), Global Secure Access, and Microsoft Security solutions.
- Serve as the technical authority for Microsoft Security technologies such as Sentinel, Defender XDR, Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Identity, Defender for Office 365, Entra ID, and Zero Trust frameworks.
- Continuously refine security use cases, detections, dashboards, automation playbooks, and response workflows to elevate threat detection and operational efficiency.
- Advise customers on security strategies, cyber maturity, and alignment with frameworks like ACSC Essential Eight, NIST, ISM, and ISO27001.
- Lead and guide SOC analysts, security engineers, and other stakeholders with architectural and technical expertise.
- Identify and evaluate emerging threats and vulnerabilities; recommend effective mitigation strategies.
- Drive ongoing enhancements in security monitoring, threat detection, automation, and incident response through innovation and operational excellence.
- Participate in customer engagements, workshops, design discussions, and strategic security planning.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Operations, and Engineering teams to influence the Managed Security Practice’s future direction.
- Mentor and develop team members to nurture a culture centered on learning, innovation, and technical mastery.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Extensive experience in Cyber Security Architecture, Security Engineering, or senior technical leadership roles.
- Expertise in architectural solution design within enterprise, managed service provider, consulting, or vendor settings.
- Comprehensive and hands-on knowledge of the Microsoft Security ecosystem, including Sentinel, Defender XDR, Endpoint, Identity, Office 365, Entra ID, Global Secure Access, and Zero Trust principles.
- Proven ability to build and optimize Microsoft Sentinel detections, analytics rules, workbooks, automation, and SOC operations.
- Strong grasp of SOC design, detection engineering, threat management, and modern security operations procedures.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise SIEMs and contemporary security operations practices.
- Skilled in creating security use cases, response playbooks, automation opportunities, and operational frameworks.
- Well-versed in cyber threat landscapes, adversary tactics, and security standards such as ACSC Essential Eight, NIST, ISO27001, ISM, SABSA, or TOGAF.
- In-depth network knowledge spanning Layers 3 to 7, including protocols such as HTTP, HTTPS, and SMTP.
- Experience with scripting and automation using languages and tools like KQL, Python, PowerShell, or equivalents.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities, adept at influencing technical and non-technical audiences.
- Passion for cybersecurity, innovation, and ongoing personal and organizational improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and enhance the capabilities of high-performing technical teams.
- Must hold Australian citizenship and be eligible for NV1 Security Clearance.
