Position Summary

This role involves managing and coordinating customs clearance documentation through relevant authorities, providing expert guidance to customers on customs regulations at both origin and destination points. Candidates should be prepared to work shift patterns as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the customs clearance process efficiently for customer freight documentation.
  • Maintain daily communication with customs authorities.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to all clients.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on customs compliance, resolving related issues with customers.
  • Support the review and improvement of policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Ensure all regulatory requirements are met for business and customers.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, risk mitigation, and IT solutions to enhance compliance and controls.
  • Leverage Expeditors' network regionally to standardize practices and share best approaches.
  • Support key account customers to fulfill their customs-related needs.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on customs requirements and implement changes as necessary.
  • Ensure accurate processing and collection of Duty and VAT.
  • Promptly resolve queries and follow up on refunds.
  • Regularly update and enforce departmental SOPs, assisting sales and account management with cost-saving initiatives.
  • Conduct routine audits of entries on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Keep current with the latest customs regulations and updates.
  • Train new and existing staff on customs processes and updates.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

  • Between one and two years of relevant experience in customs brokerage or appropriate education is essential.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Irish customs procedures and systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with customers and colleagues at all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Windows OS, email, and various PC-based software.
