Job description

Role Overview

At Hynds Pipe Systems Limited, based in Christchurch, you'll serve as the primary point of contact for customers involved in the civil, water, wastewater and drainage sectors. This dynamic role requires moving fluidly between the front counter, back office, and yard, handling a diverse array of tasks like quoting, invoicing, and loading trucks. Your work ensures smooth operations at the branch and delivers reliable service to clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering excellent front-counter customer service, including sales support, preparing quotes, and processing customer orders.
  • Managing branch administrative duties such as invoicing, stock receipting, credit management, daily banking, and credit control activities.
  • Handling yard operations including stocktakes, cycle counts, product coding, managing delivery dockets, and ensuring accurate stock control.
  • Safely loading and unloading delivery trucks, receiving incoming goods, and maintaining an organized, well-stocked yard environment.
  • Developing thorough knowledge of products to provide insightful and practical solutions for customers.

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience in customer service combined with yard duties, demonstrating comfort both at the front counter and handling back-end logistical tasks.
  • Possession of a valid Class 1 driver’s license; forklift (F) endorsement considered advantageous but training available for the right individual.
  • Strong customer interaction skills with the ability to interpret client needs and resolve issues effectively onsite.
  • Competent computer literacy, especially in tasks involving invoicing, stock accuracy, and number handling.
  • Physical capability to remain active throughout the day and manage products weighing up to around 20 kilograms.
  • Previous exposure to industry-specific products is beneficial though not mandatory.
