Customer Delivery Driver

As a Customer Delivery Driver, you play an essential role bringing customer orders directly to their homes with care, energy, and a friendly approach. Key Responsibilities

• Representing Sainsbury's positively at customers' doorsteps by providing a considerate, helpful, and welcoming delivery experience.
• Operating a 3.5 tonne refrigerated van to deliver groceries punctually and in excellent condition.
• Conducting vehicle safety checks to ensure the van is clean, organized, and roadworthy before departure, securing customers' orders suitably.
• Adhering to planned delivery routes and driving safely across diverse traffic, weather, and road environments.
• Handling containers weighing up to 15kg and delivering shopping to various property types, including those with steps, lifts, or requiring longer walks from the vehicle.
• Maintaining clear communication with customers by updating on possible delays, addressing queries, and managing order changes effectively.
• Assisting with in-store duties as needed when not on delivery rounds.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Must be over 18 years old.
• Hold a full UK or EU driving license for at least 12 months with no more than 6 penalty points.
• Eligibility to work in the UK is mandatory.
• Completion of an online driving risk assessment during the hiring process, with a subsequent driving assessment upon joining.
• Comfortable and confident driving a larger vehicle safely through busy urban streets, narrow country lanes, and other various environments.
• Physical ability to work in a fast-moving environment, including routinely lifting and moving shopping containers up to 15kg.
• Proactive problem-solving skills and sound judgment to ensure safety on the road.
• Willingness to work independently as well as collaboratively within the store team.
• Flexibility to assist across different store functions and willingness to embrace new challenges.
• Open to continuous learning and adapting, especially in using route and delivery technologies.

Additional Information

• The company uses in-cab AI cameras to monitor driver behavior, promoting road safety and compliance with defensive driving standards.
