Job description

Role Overview

As the representative of Tesco while on the road, the Customer Delivery Driver interacts directly with customers at their homes. This position goes beyond merely driving; it revolves around assisting customers and delivering excellent service with a friendly attitude. The work is active, involving physical tasks, and offers diverse daily experiences. Most of the day is spent working independently, but a supportive network of managers and colleagues is available when needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of your van, trays, and working area to ensure all deliveries arrive in impeccable condition.
  • Load the van safely and conduct all necessary checks to confirm it is safe, reliable, and ready for service.
  • Communicate any changes, substitutions, or short-dated items in orders to customers warmly and clearly, providing refunds when appropriate to maintain a seamless customer experience.
  • Handle all products carefully, treating each delivery with utmost care to uphold quality and customer confidence.
  • Deliver within assigned time slots, greet customers warmly at their doorstep, and ensure they feel valued and well cared for.

Requirements

  • Build solid connections with team members to foster a positive team environment and provide top-quality customer service.
  • Display a warm and approachable demeanor both with customers and colleagues.
  • Adapt quickly to changes in customer requirements and embrace dynamic working conditions both on the road and in-store.
  • Hold a valid UK, EU, or EEA driving license (full or automatic) held for at least 12 months with no more than three penalty points.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Starting pay at pounds 14.18 per hour, increasing to pounds 15.45 in stores located within the M25 area.
  • Guaranteed a minimum of 16 working hours per week, with some roles starting from 12 hours weekly.
  • Holiday entitlement starting at 20 days plus an additional personal day, increasing to 22 days after one year of service, plus bank holidays.
  • Flexible working options available from the start of employment.
