Job description
Role Overview
As a Customer Delivery Driver representing Tesco on the road, you'll be the friendly face visiting customers at their homes daily. This position involves much more than just driving; it requires delivering excellent service with a positive attitude. The job is active and varied, with no two shifts alike. You'll spend a good part of the day working independently, supported by a team of managers and colleagues at base whenever needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the van, trays, and your workspace remain clean, organized, and tidy, so that every customer's order arrives in perfect condition.
- Load the van carefully and carry out all necessary checks to confirm it is safe, dependable, and ready to provide top-notch service.
- Communicate with customers about any order modifications, substitutions, or products nearing their expiry in a courteous and reassuring manner, offering refunds where appropriate to maintain a smooth experience.
- Handle all products gently, treating each order as your own to uphold quality standards and customer confidence.
- Deliver orders within the scheduled time slot, greeting customers warmly at the doorstep and ensuring they feel valued and well cared for.
Candidate Requirements
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to foster strong teamwork and deliver outstanding customer service.
- Be approachable and friendly with both customers and team members.
- Adapt promptly to changing customer demands and embrace flexibility both on the road and at the store.
- Possess a valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence (either full or automatic) held for at least 12 months, with no more than three penalty points on record.
Compensation and Hours
Starting wage is £14.18 per hour, increasing to £15.45 in stores located within the M25 area. Additional payments may be available depending on location. A minimum guarantee of 16 working hours per week is provided, with options to work from 12 hours if preferred. Schedules are set based on your availability with at least three weeks’ notice. Applicants with availability close to required hours are still encouraged to apply.
Benefits
- Initial holiday entitlement of 20 days plus one personal day, rising to 22 days after 12 months, in addition to Bank Holidays.
- Flexible work arrangements available from your first day.
- Colleague Clubcard discounts starting at 10%, increasing to 15% on pay-day weekends, with a second card available to share with family members.
- Access to free wellbeing services supporting mental, physical, and general life health.
- Life insurance coverage worth five times your salary and an award-winning pension scheme with employer contributions matched up to 7.5%.
- Varied additional benefits including discounts, share options, and cycle-to-work schemes.
- Uniform provided, along with policies supporting you through important life events.
