Customer Delivery Driver - Haverhill

About the Role

As a Customer Delivery Driver at Tesco in Haverhill, you will be the visible representative of the company while delivering orders directly to customers' homes. This role requires hands-on work with physical activity and variety, where no two shifts are alike. You'll operate largely independently throughout your shifts, supported by a team of managers and colleagues at the base.

• Monday: 19:00 to 23:00
• Tuesday: 19:00 to 23:00
• Friday: 09:00 to 19:00
• Saturday: 09:00 to 19:00

Key Responsibilities

• Keep the van, delivery trays, and workstation clean, organized, and in excellent condition to ensure customers receive their shopping as expected.
• Safely load the delivery van and perform necessary checks to confirm roadworthiness and reliability.
• Communicate proactively with customers about any changes to their orders such as substitutions or short-dated items, and process refunds when required to maintain a positive experience.
• Handle all products carefully, treating each order as if it were your own, to uphold quality and customer trust.
• Deliver within the customer's specified time frame, providing friendly and genuine service at the doorstep to leave a strong positive impression.

Candidate Requirements

• Build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues to foster a positive team environment and deliver excellent customer service.
• Exhibit a warm, welcoming demeanor to both customers and team members.
• Adapt promptly to changing customer needs and embrace flexibility both on the road and at the store.
• Possess a valid UK, EU, or EEA driving license held for at least one year, with no more than 3 penalty points.

Compensation and Benefits

• Starting pay at £14.18 per hour, increasing to £15.45 in stores located within the M25. Some locations may provide additional compensation.
• A guaranteed minimum of 16 hours per week, with some roles available from 12 hours weekly.
• Holiday entitlement beginning at 20 days plus one personal day, increasing to 22 days after one year of service, in addition to bank holidays.
