Job description
Role Overview
Representing Tesco on the road, Customer Delivery Drivers visit customers directly at their homes. This position extends beyond just driving; it requires delivering excellent customer service with friendliness and professionalism. The job is hands-on, physically active, and varies daily. While much of the work is performed independently, a supportive team at the store is always available.
Starting pay is £14.18 per hour, increasing to £15.45 in stores within the M25 area. Some locations may provide extra payments. There is a guaranteed minimum of 16 working hours per week, with options also available from 12 hours.
Key Duties
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of delivery vehicles, trays, and workspaces to ensure customers receive their orders in optimal condition.
- Load vans securely and conduct thorough vehicle checks to confirm roadworthiness and readiness for service.
- Communicate clearly with customers about any order modifications, substitutions, or nearing expiration items, handling refunds when necessary to ensure a smooth, positive experience.
- Handle products carefully, treating every delivery as personally important to uphold quality and customer trust.
- Deliver orders within scheduled time slots, providing warm, genuine service at doorsteps to leave customers feeling appreciated and well supported.
Candidate Requirements
- Foster strong relationships with colleagues to enhance teamwork and deliver outstanding customer experiences.
- Exhibit a friendly and welcoming attitude towards both customers and team members.
- Adapt promptly to evolving customer needs and changes while on the road or in-store.
- Hold a valid full UK, EU, or EEA driving license (manual or automatic) for at least one year without more than three penalty points.
