Customer Delivery Driver

About the Role

In this role, you will be the vital link delivering our customers' online grocery orders directly to their homes, bringing not only their chosen products but also a friendly and caring presence. Key Responsibilities

• Represent Sainsbury's warmly and professionally at each customer's doorstep, making them feel appreciated with attentive service.
• Operate a 3.5 tonne refrigerated van to transport groceries punctually and in excellent condition.
• Conduct thorough checks for vehicle roadworthiness, cleanliness, organization, and secure loading before departing.
• Adhere to planned delivery routes while driving safely through various traffic, weather, and road situations.
• Handle shopping containers weighing up to 15kg, delivering to diverse property types, which may include stairs, lifts, or extended walking distances from the van.
• Maintain excellent communication with customers regarding delivery timing, order changes, or queries.
• Assist with in-store tasks when not performing deliveries as needed.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Applicants must be 18 years or older with at least 12 months holding a full UK/EU driving license with no more than six penalty points.
• Completion of an online driving risk assessment is required during the interview process, followed by a driving assessment upon hiring.
• Right to work legally within the UK is mandatory.
• Awareness and compliance with in-cab AI camera monitoring for safe driving practices to uphold safety standards for all road users.
• Ability to drive safely in diverse environments including residential, city, and rural areas.
• Comfortable handling physical tasks in a busy, energetic setting, including lifting up to 15kg repeatedly.
• Proactive problem-solving skills and good decision-making on the road.
• Capable of working independently and collaboratively within the store team.
• Flexibility to undertake store duties and openness to learning new skills and technologies related to route and delivery management.
