Custodian

Job Summary

The Custodian role focuses on maintaining cleanliness and sanitation across assigned areas. This includes daily janitorial work, operating cleaning machinery, and handling special and hazardous waste properly and safely.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out designated janitorial tasks in line with daily schedules.
• Manage hazardous waste by collecting, sorting, labeling, packaging, recycling, shipping, and storing according to protocols.
• Use motorized cleaning equipment effectively.
• Keep assigned areas clean and orderly every day.
• Report any workplace incidents or unsafe conditions to supervisory staff promptly.
• Adhere strictly to safety policies and procedures, including using the appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Interrupt and prevent risky behaviors in oneself and others.
• Work collaboratively within a team environment to complete assignments.
• Perform repetitive duties as required while maintaining quality and safety standards.
• Maintain a tidy and organized workspace.
• Follow company rules, standards, and instructions diligently.
• Take direction from supervisors and communicate professionally with leads, coworkers, managers, and clients.
• Cover shifts during staff shortages and assist shift leads with outstanding tasks.
• Present a professional appearance and conduct oriented towards customer service and satisfaction.
• Utilize reporting systems effectively and understand environmental responsibilities.

Qualifications & Skills

No formal education is mandated though 3 to 6 months of training or comparable experience is preferred. A valid driver's license may be required along with completed safety and task training certifications. Forklift certification may also be necessary.

• Bilingual abilities are advantageous.
• Capability to comprehend and interpret manuals, instructions, and procedures.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of cleaning techniques, compounds, equipment care, and readiness to share insights.

Physical and Work Environment

• The job frequently requires sitting, talking, listening, and handling materials up to 35 pounds in weight.

Compensation and Schedule

This is a full-time position with shifts from Monday to Friday, 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Compensation is set at $15.00 per hour. Comprehensive benefits packages are offered by the employer.
