CSA Supervisor

Overview

We are currently looking for an experienced CSA Supervisor to join a major pharmaceutical construction project based in Athlone, Ireland.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize the safety and health of all personnel on or visiting the construction site.
• Proactively promote adherence to the Construction Safety & Health Plan alongside Environmental Management protocols.
• Immediately address any unsafe conditions or behaviors observed on site.
• Provide guidance and coaching to team members to uphold best safety standards.
• Conduct a minimum of five Safety Observation Reports (SORs) and three Safety Performance Audits (SPAs) weekly.
• Engage in weekly safety audits as scheduled.
• Collaborate with the Construction Superintendent and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) team to review contractors' method statements, SPAs, permit applications, ensuring risk assessments and controls are thorough and effective, often acting in place of the Package Owner.
• Attend weekly Safety and Coordination meetings as a Package Owner representative.
• Coordinate construction work with the commissioning team during turnover phases.
• Gain full familiarity with contract scope, technical documentation, pricing, and construction schedules.
• Oversee daily contractor activities onsite to ensure compliance with safety, quality, timelines, costs, and documentation.
• Stay updated on upcoming tasks, methods, and resource allocation.
• Participate in daily morning planning meetings at the worksite (Whiteboard meetings).
• Monitor and act upon outputs from four-week lookahead and weekly coordination meetings.
• Supervise contractors’ quality plan adherence through daily inspections and witnessing tests per Inspection and Test Plan requirements.
• Maintain open communication with Construction Manager and QA/QC teams regarding quality issues and deviations from approved documentation.
• Verify work conforms to Field Observation Kit (FOK) and sample approvals.
• Complete at least one targeted inspection daily, documenting findings in Quality Inspection Reports (QIR).
• Coordinate with Construction Superintendent and Material Controller regarding equipment deliveries and inspections.
• Review and approve test packs alongside QA/QC and Turnover Managers, ensuring accurate database status updates.
• Participate in system walkdowns, punch-list resolution, construction close-out, and client or Commissioning & Qualification team handovers.
• Accelerate punch-list finalization activities.
• Act in place of the Package Owner to review contractors’ red-line mark-ups for accuracy and comprehensiveness.
• Ensure red-lining of construction IFC drawings accurately reflects progress and installation correctness.

Qualifications

• A degree-level qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related discipline.
• Additional professional certifications in Engineering or Construction/Project Management are advantageous.
• Experience with Digital Project Delivery methods is desirable.
• Minimum of ten years’ management experience on large-scale construction projects involving multi-disciplinary teams.
• Prior work in specialized industrial sectors such as Life Sciences, Food production, Mission Critical facilities, or Data Centers.
• Proven track record promoting exemplary health and safety standards on large industrial construction projects.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
