Critical Environments Operator III

About the Role

CyrusOne is a leading global data center collocation provider focused on ensuring high availability and efficiency for critical business applications while protecting customer data within secure facilities. Reporting to the Senior Facility Manager, this position functions as an integral part of the Operations & Maintenance team delivering around-the-clock service in a 24/7/365 environment. The primary goal is to support the reliability of critical operations and building systems across data center and assigned sites through hands-on maintenance and operational duties.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute assigned tasks under the guidance of the Senior Facility Manager within the Operations & Maintenance framework for the Data Center and other spaces as designated.
• Comply with owner’s operational guidelines for the buildings managed, following instructions from the Data Center Manager.
• Utilize and train team members on the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to log maintenance activities, labor, preventative maintenance orders, and reactive tickets.
• Apply Standard Operating Procedures, Maintenance Operation Procedures, Emergency Operating Procedures, and Maintenance Management Reports appropriately in site functions.
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors to ensure maintenance and projects are completed safely and effectively.
• Respond promptly to equipment and system alarms prioritizing protection of critical loads, minimizing damage, and aiding in root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
• Perform operational tasks such as critical switching, lockout/tagout procedures, and establishing safe work zones to support subcontractors’ activities while maintaining safety and system integrity.
• Maintain high workmanship standards in all activities.
• Adhere to company, governmental, and client policies as instructed by the Senior Facility Manager.
• Remain available for emergency response and maintenance efforts at any time, including outside regular hours.
• Comply with corporate and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) standards and programs.

Education and Experience

• Journeyman-level expertise in electrical, mechanical, or HVAC/R disciplines attained through an associate degree, vocational training, or relevant hands-on facility maintenance experience supporting data centers.
• 5 to 7 years of experience in Tier 2, Tier 3, or Tier 4 Data Centers or related operations, maintenance, or building engineering roles.
• Familiarity with Work Order Controls and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.
• Experience managing vendors and subcontractor contracts.
• Competency in handling key performance indicators and capacity planning as directed by engineering leadership.
• Proficient in the use of hand tools, testing instruments, and maintenance shop procedures applicable to electrical and mechanical systems.
• Ability to interpret and troubleshoot equipment alarms, stabilize system operations, and liaise with original equipment manufacturer technicians.
• Competence in using Microsoft Word and Excel; knowledge of Visio and AutoCAD is advantageous.
