Role Summary

As a CPU Design Verification Engineer, you will collaborate closely with CPU and SOC Architects to validate micro-architecture concepts and ensure the CPU design meets launch standards. Your responsibilities span the development and execution of verification methodologies, environments, and test plans focused on high performance, quality, and power-efficient CPU designs.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage with CPU and SOC Architects to comprehend concepts and system requirements.
• Formulate detailed test and coverage plans aligned with architecture and micro-architecture.
• Create scalable and portable verification methodologies across different environments.
• Build comprehensive verification environments including stimulus, checkers, assertions, trackers and coverage metrics.
• Design verification plans and testbenches specific to your functional areas.
• Execute verification tasks including design bring-up, environment setup, regression testing, and debugging test failures.
• Monitor and report on verification progress through metrics such as bug tracking and coverage analysis.

Required Expertise

• Comprehensive understanding of microprocessor verification and architectures, especially in cache coherence, memory ordering, prefetching, branch prediction, renaming, speculative execution, and memory management.
• Experience with random instruction sequencing and both block-level and chip-level design testing.
• Proven leadership skills managing small teams of CPU verification engineers.
• Familiarity with advanced verification techniques like formal verification, assertions, and silicon bring-up is advantageous.
• Strong background in writing test plans, portable testbenches, transactors, and assembly code.
• Proficient with various verification methodologies and tools including simulators, coverage collection, gate-level simulation, waveform viewers, and formal proof tools.
• Ability to independently develop and manage a block or unit within a design.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering or related field plus 4 or more years in ASIC design, verification, integration or similar roles
• OR Master's degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience
• OR PhD with minimum 2 years of relevant industry experience
• Equivalent experience considered if candidate demonstrates the necessary competencies to fulfill the role
