Cost & Management Accountant

About the Role

An exciting opportunity is available at a rapidly expanding Irish manufacturing and engineering company in Dublin for a commercially savvy and detail-focused Cost & Management Accountant. The position involves working in a project-driven setting, collaborating closely with Finance, Operations, Commercial, and Project teams to deliver useful cost insights, enhance reporting processes, and support effective business decision-making. The selected individual will take a leading role in managing cost tracking, forecasting, inventory accounting, margin evaluation, and optimizing processes throughout a range of complex projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and update standard costs, bill of materials (BOM) costing, and overhead allocation rates for products and services.
• Prepare monthly reporting for cost centers, conduct variance analysis, and provide clear commentary for budget owners.
• Analyze margins, profitability, and cost drivers to support pricing strategies, forecasting, and commercial decisions.
• Oversee inventory valuation, reconcile cost of goods sold (COGS), manage work-in-progress (WIP) balances, and follow up on stock counts.
• Contribute financial insights to budgeting, forecasting, and project evaluation activities.
• Identify and drive cost-saving initiatives, improve reporting and processes, maintain ERP system discipline, and strengthen financial controls.

Candidate Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related discipline.
• Professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, or CIMA.
• Between 3 and 5 years’ experience in cost or management accounting roles.
• Strong expertise in standard costing methods, overhead allocation, and absorption costing techniques.
• Experience with product or job costing methodologies.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.
• Experience using ERP software, particularly SAP.
• Familiarity with manufacturing, engineering, construction, energy, or data centre industry environments.
• Knowledge of bill of materials (BOM) costing and work-in-progress (WIP) accounting.
• Hands-on experience with Power BI or comparable business intelligence/reporting tools.
• Awareness of IFRS 15 revenue recognition rules for long-term contracts.
• Experience collaborating with project or program managers in a project-centric business structure.
• Background in process improvement or ERP implementation projects.
