Job Summary
The Cost Control Engineer will oversee mega projects in Riyadh, focusing on managing and regulating project costs to ensure delivery within budget. This requires analyzing expenditures, forecasting costs, identifying discrepancies, and implementing corrective measures.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and enforce project cost control methodologies, procedures, and reporting tools.
- Prepare detailed cost reports and forecast cash flows.
- Evaluate project performance by comparing actual costs against budgets.
- Supervise project spending to remain aligned with financial plans.
- Collaborate with project teams to gather cost data covering labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Review and validate invoices and payment certificates from contractors and suppliers.
- Detect cost overruns and suggest remedial actions.
- Assist in drafting project budgets and cost estimates.
- Provide cost-related insights during the planning and scheduling phases.
- Create periodic reports on cost control and present these to relevant stakeholders.
- Contribute to risk analysis and offer cost perspectives on risk mitigation plans.
- Work closely with procurement and contracts teams on cost issues.
- Ensure adherence to internal financial policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- At least 8 years of experience in cost control with a preference for construction sector expertise.
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and financial analytics.
- Experienced with cost control software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Excel, SAP, Oracle, or similar.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- High attention to detail and precision in reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certifications such as Certified Cost Professional (CCP) or Project Management Professional (PMP) are advantageous.
- Familiarity with Earned Value Management (EVM) methods.
- Experience with project management frameworks and contract administration.
