Role Summary

The Cost Control Engineer role involves comprehensive support in cost management for projects. This includes preparing variation reports, tracking milestone progress, aiding in customer billing processes, scheduling project activities, and performing technical as well as commercial tender reviews.

Primary Responsibilities

• Support the Development Cost Planning Business Plan by employing relevant tools and processes across all projects.
• Develop detailed project cost plans, deliver recommendations, and benchmark at project reviews to secure approval of cost planning outputs.
• Identify skill gaps within the regional cost planning team and devise strategies to address them.
• Manage and monitor overall project expenditures by verifying invoices and claims from suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure accurate recording.
• Provide cost controlling and planning assistance throughout projects, including variation reporting and milestone monitoring up to customer billing preparation.
• Schedule and track project activities and milestones to support billing processes.
• Conduct technical and commercial evaluations of subcontractor quotations for service agreements.
• Ensure effective project execution by utilizing project management systems like WBS to monitor purchase status, invoicing, deliveries, and project closure.
• Collaborate with project management teams to troubleshoot issues ensuring timely project completion.
• Participate in project meetings with project management teams and clients.
• Prepare monthly project costing reports for team and management review, ensuring expenditures remain within budget.
• Offer cost control and planning guidance to internal project management teams as needed.
• Perform any additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Strong technical expertise in project cost planning, scheduling, and reporting.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation capabilities.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Relevant project experience and ability in technical writing.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and remain effective under pressure.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering focused on Project Management or related Cost Control training.
• Familiarity with MS Project, Primavera Scheduling, SAP software, Microsoft Office, and AutoCAD is considered advantageous.
• Valid driving license is required.
