Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Cook to join our culinary team at the Marriott International property located in Sydney, New South Wales. This role involves preparing and presenting meals to high standards, maintaining stringent quality controls, and supporting the food service operation with a positive and professional attitude.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare special and substitute meals adhering to recipe and quality standards.
• Control and regulate the temperature of cooking devices including ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters.
• Manage thawing processes by transferring food from freezer to refrigerator in a timely manner.
• Ensure appropriate portion sizes, food arrangements, and garnishing meet presentation standards.
• Maintain detailed food logs and monitor the quantity and quality of food prepared.
• Communicate effectively with team members to request assistance during busy service periods.
• Report excess food items to the Chef for daily specials.
• Inform food and beverage service staff about menu specials and items that are out of stock.
• Prepare and cook both hot and cold dishes while adhering to food preparation checklists.
• Comply with all company safety and security policies, report maintenance issues, injuries, and unsafe conditions promptly.
• Maintain cleanliness and professionalism in personal appearance and uphold confidentiality and safeguarding of company assets.
• Anticipate guest needs and deliver exceptional, clear, and professional communication.
• Foster positive working relationships and support team goals by responding sensitively to coworkers' concerns.
• Adhere to quality standards consistently throughout work tasks.
• Perform physical tasks including prolonged standing, sitting, walking, bending, lifting up to 25 pounds, and other movements essential to kitchen duties.
• Carry out additional reasonable tasks as directed by supervisors.
