Job description
Overview
Work within a critical infrastructure setting in one of Australia's most technically advanced and unique environments. You will contribute to mission-essential operations demanding precise, dependable, and skilled technical teams.
Key Duties
- Prepare between 400 to 600 meals daily following Australian health and sanitation regulations.
- Assist Head and Sous Chefs in daily cafeteria operations and food service management.
- Manage kitchen and serving equipment proficiently.
- Fulfill roles such as larder cook, stove cook, and grill cook, delivering nutritious and appealing dishes tailored to USA and Australian preferences.
- Utilize batch food preparation methods to ensure freshness throughout meal services.
- Deliver exceptional customer service through quality preparation and presentation.
- Maintain resource efficiency and apply first-in-first-out inventory management for food products.
- Ensure dining facility cleanliness aligns with Australian Food and Health standards.
- Report defective equipment or maintenance needs promptly to the designated helpdesk.
- Uphold and encourage compliance with workplace health and safety protocols.
- Carry out any additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Certified in Supervision under Australian Food Health and Sanitation Standards.
- Familiarity with Micros Fidelio and Opera Hotel Management Systems.
- Experience with cash handling procedures.
- Knowledge of SAP systems.
- Graduate certificate or diploma in Culinary Arts or related hospitality discipline.
- Desirable certificates include Certificate IV in Business (Frontline Management), Catering or Hospitality, and Training and Assessment.
- Holders of Australian Food Health and Sanitation Standards Management Certificate preferred.
- Undergraduate degree is advantageous.
- Valid driver's license and hygiene (food handling) certification.
Experience
Applicants should possess 3 to 5 years of professional experience as a cook within the hospitality sector.
Physical and Mental Requirements
Capability to independently lift objects weighing up to 10 kilograms;
Security Clearance
Employment requires obtaining and maintaining top-level Australian Department of Defence security clearance (Top-Secret Positive Vetting) or equivalent U.S. clearance (TS/SCI with Polygraph).
Job Requirements
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Fluent English reading, writing, and speaking skills.
