Position Overview

The Cook I role involves preparing specialized meals or suitable substitutes while managing cooking equipment temperatures, such as ovens, grills, broilers, and roasters. Responsibilities include thawing food properly, maintaining appropriate portion sizes and presentation with garnishes, and keeping food logs updated. The cook monitors the quantity and quality of food prepared and communicates effectively during busy periods to ensure smooth kitchen operation. Any surplus food is reported for potential use in daily specials, and communication with Food & Beverage service staff regarding menu specials or unavailable items is maintained.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food following recipes, quality, and presentation standards.
• Prepare cold dishes according to guidelines.
• Support management in areas such as hiring, training, scheduling, performance evaluation, counseling, discipline, motivation, and coaching, acting as a role model to staff.
• Adhere strictly to all company safety and security policies and report maintenance issues, accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions.
• Maintain a clean, professional personal appearance and protect confidential and proprietary information.
• Anticipate and fulfill guest service requirements with clear, professional communication.
• Foster positive workplace relationships to support team goals, actively listen to coworkers’ concerns and respond appropriately.
• Comply with quality expectations and standards consistently.
• Fulfill physical requirements including standing, sitting, walking for long periods, and handling objects up to 25 pounds.
• Perform additional reasonable tasks as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications and Experience

• Technical, trade, or vocational school education is preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in cooking.
• No prior supervisory experience necessary.
• No specific licenses or certifications are required.
