Role Overview

We are inviting a skilled Contract Engineer to be based in Doha, Qatar, working with our government-sector client. This role is instrumental in overseeing the technical and contractual facets of engineering and construction projects, collaborating closely with project management, engineering, construction, and design teams to ensure strict adherence to contract stipulations throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate technical specifications, contract conditions, and engineering documents to confirm compliance.
  • Oversee contractual obligations related to engineering, construction standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Track project timelines, milestones, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with contractual commitments and budgets.
  • Collaborate with project managers and technical teams to embed contract requirements into project activities effectively.
  • Administer technical and scope adjustments, contract modifications, and ensure proper documentation and communication.
  • Maintain contract records including tender clarifications, negotiations, and official qualifications.
  • Assess work scopes for tenders and change requests alongside technical departments.
  • Generate regular reports on contract status, performance, and compliance for senior leadership.
  • Monitor and aid in resolving any contractual disputes or non-conformance issues.
  • Supervise construction operations to verify contract adherence.
  • Facilitate the RFI (Request for Information) process by ensuring timely submissions, reviewing RFIs, and coordinating with design management.
  • Support the evaluation of contractor submissions and technical deliverables associated with contracts.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a closely related field.
  • At least 10 years of pertinent experience in contract management or contract engineering, particularly in construction or engineering sectors.
  • Minimum 3 years' direct experience serving as a Contract Engineer or in a similar capacity.
  • Proficient technical expertise in engineering and construction practices, adept at interpreting and controlling contract requirements.
  • In-depth understanding of contract administration, contract law, and project management methodologies.
  • Demonstrated capability to manage contract variations, scope changes, technical inquiries, and contractual challenges.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluent written and verbal English language abilities.
  • Strong organizational aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Professional certification in contract management (e.g., CPCM) is a plus.
  • Experience with contract management software/tools is advantageous.
