Job description
About the Role
A respected construction firm with a solid regional presence is looking for a Contract Administrator to join its Geelong-based team. The selected candidate will oversee the entire contract administration process across multiple simultaneous government and community projects, collaborating closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, and HSEQ teams.
Why Join
- Work for a stable, well-established regional construction company with a growing project pipeline in Geelong.
- Contribute to government and community developments including schools, housing, and civic buildings that have local impact.
- Benefit from a close-knit office culture with direct exposure to senior leadership instead of being part of a large corporate entity.
- Clear opportunities for career advancement from Contract Administrator to Senior Contract Administrator roles and beyond.
- Engage with a varied project portfolio that provides diverse work without the pressures of high-rise or large-scale projects.
- Local, office-based role with no requirement for fly-in/fly-out or long commutes to Melbourne.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage contract administration end-to-end for multiple concurrent projects.
- Prepare, review, and negotiate head contracts and subcontract agreements.
- Oversee progress claims, variations, extensions of time, and cost reporting processes.
- Lead subcontractor procurement, tendering, and ongoing management activities.
- Track project budgets and provide monthly cost reporting to the Regional Manager.
- Handle contractual risks, disputes, and correspondence while mentoring junior Contract Administrators.
About the Employer
The employer is a reputable commercial builder with a strong footprint across Victoria, specializing in government and community projects such as schools, social housing, health care, and civic infrastructure, generally valued between $5M and $20M. Situated in Geelong, one of Victoria's fastest-growing regional economies, the company offers the security of an established business coupled with the opportunities presented by a growing local market.
Candidate Requirements
- Demonstrated experience as a Contract Administrator or Senior Contract Administrator within a similarly sized commercial or government/community construction firm working on projects in the $5-20M range.
- Sound knowledge of standard construction contracts such as AS4000, AS4902, or equivalents.
- History of stable employment with previous employers indicating solid tenure and reliability.
- A collaborative, adaptable mindset combined with genuine ambition to progress within the construction industry.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- Familiarity with software platforms including JobPac, Microsoft 365, Procure Pro, with exposure to Procore, Aconex, Bluebeam, CUBIT, or EstimateOne considered advantageous.
- Possession of tertiary qualifications in Construction Management, Engineering, or related fields is desirable.
