Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking a commercially savvy and experienced Content Director to spearhead the content strategy for iHeartRadio, one of New Zealand's foremost digital audio platforms. This strategic role at NZME is critical to our ambition to lead the audio sector.
Working alongside the Head of Digital Audio, as well as cross-functional content and commercial teams, you will focus on expanding audience reach, enhancing listening engagement, and uncovering new revenue streams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement a comprehensive content strategy spanning news, sports, music, radio, and podcasts.
- Curate programming of streams and playlists tailored to audience preferences.
- Forge new content partnerships to ensure diverse and current content.
- Create initiatives that drive growth in total listening hours, user registrations, engagement, and app downloads.
- Oversee daily management of content strategy execution to maintain high-quality and relevant content delivery.
- Leverage NZME’s network for effective cross-promotion of iHeartRadio to boost brand awareness and listener base.
- Utilize audience analytics and performance metrics to optimize reach and engagement.
- Manage programming for iHeartRadio’s in-store radio service.
- Lead and evolve content strategy for the iHeartRadio New Zealand Podcast Network, supporting both new productions and existing content.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of five years’ experience in a related audio or media industry role.
- Proven expertise in radio or audio with relevant educational credentials.
- Demonstrated success developing content that expands audience size and engagement.
- Skilled in interpreting data and performance metrics to guide content decisions.
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams spanning content, commercial, product, and marketing.
- Exhibits curiosity, adaptability, and a proactive work approach.
- Strong passion for audio media, including podcasts, music, and emerging listener trends.
Success Metrics
Success will be measured by increased digital radio listening hours, podcast downloads, active user engagement on the app and web, as well as growing app registrations and overall brand recognition of iHeartRadio.
