Consultant - SQL Developer

Overview

We are seeking an experienced SQL Developer proficient in designing, developing, optimizing, and maintaining relational database systems. This role demands hands-on expertise in creating complex queries, stored procedures, performance tuning, and ensuring database efficiency. The candidate will collaborate with application developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to deliver effective database solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and maintain SQL database components such as tables, views, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
• Develop and optimize intricate SQL queries to support application development and reporting needs.
• Analyze and improve query performance through indexing and execution plan evaluation.
• Design ETL workflows and assist in data migration tasks.
• Maintain data integrity, security, and ensure high availability of databases.
• Interpret business requirements to implement efficient database solutions.
• Monitor and troubleshoot database performance issues in production environments.
• Work closely with development and QA teams during development cycles and deployments.
• Document database structures, scripts, and maintain version control.
• Participate in code reviews and advocate best practices in database management.

Technical and Professional Requirements

• Expertise in SQL and relational database management systems such as SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
• Proficient in writing stored procedures, functions, views, triggers, common table expressions (CTEs), joins, window functions, and temporary tables.
• Strong knowledge of indexing strategies, query optimization, and execution plan analysis.
• Understanding of transaction management, locking mechanisms, concurrency, and database normalization.
• Hands-on experience with ETL development and data migration processes.
• Familiarity with version control tools like Git.
• Exposure to Microsoft SQL Server-specific tools such as SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS is advantageous.
• Basic familiarity with cloud-based databases such as Azure SQL, AWS RDS, and PostgreSQL cloud offerings is preferable.

Additional Preferred Skills

• Experience working in BFSI, Retail, Healthcare, Telecom, or Airline sectors.
• Knowledge of business intelligence tools like Power BI and Tableau.
• Understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Educational Background and Certifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline.
• Relevant certifications in database technologies are a plus.

Additional Valuable Qualifications

• Experience with Azure SQL Database and AWS RDS platforms.
• Knowledge of Snowflake, PostgreSQL database administration, data warehousing concepts, database security, and continuous integration/deployment for database changes.
• Certifications such as Microsoft Azure Database Administrator Associate, Oracle Database SQL Certified Associate, PostgreSQL Certification, or AWS Database Specialty are desirable.
