Role Summary

The Planner will develop and maintain detailed, resource-loaded construction project schedules using Primavera P6 software. This position involves fostering effective scheduling practices, influencing contractor and trade partner engagement, and promoting a strong scheduling culture across projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create detailed Project Gantt Charts from first principles in Primavera P6 following standardized Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), accurately outlining tasks and milestones.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and key stakeholders to determine realistic durations for all phases including feasibility, design, planning, procurement, construction, and operational readiness.
  • Define appropriate leads, lags, float, and dependencies to identify critical paths within individual projects.
  • Integrate individual project schedules into an overarching Master Programme Schedule to present a comprehensive overview of the Capital Improvement Programme (CIP).
  • Update all project schedules monthly and revise the Master Programme Schedule accordingly to support company-wide reporting.
  • Review and analyze contractor schedules continuously and during tender evaluations across various projects.
  • Assess changes and modifications affecting budgets and timelines.
  • Support Earned Value Analysis monitoring for the project portfolio.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports for the Project Management Team with relevant schedule and cost information.
  • Develop cost-loaded schedules to assist detailed cash flow forecasting.
  • Provide administrative support by reviewing and synthesizing data and preparing summary documentation to enhance project controls.
  • Organize cross-project schedule alignment meetings involving design consultants, contractors, and internal teams to ensure consistent scheduling methodologies and expectations.
  • Coordinate with pre-construction, construction, design, and capacity planning teams to produce schedules that assist project initiation, budgeting, and construction timelines.
  • Work closely with Subject Matter Experts to understand the impact of new designs, materials, and construction techniques on the schedule.
  • Foster collaboration between schedulers and the Cost & Risk Management Team to improve spend forecasting and risk identification.
  • Analyze programme controls data and create summary reports addressing ad-hoc inquiries from the Programme Controls Manager.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related technical field, or equivalent qualifications with a minimum of 10 years' relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in consolidating schedules and multiple data sources into a master scheduling platform and producing programme status reports.
  • Strong experience building critical path schedules from foundational knowledge, conducting workshops, and aligning progress reporting methods with contractors.
  • Extensive experience in managing large capital programmes, including complex, multi-disciplinary pre-construction programming.
  • Ability to cultivate positive working relationships balancing interpersonal skills and process management.
  • Excellent communication abilities, high motivation, and personal drive.
  • Strong planning, prioritization, and time management capabilities to meet deadlines and maintain high-quality outputs.
  • Solid understanding of project governance and procurement procedures.
