Construction Estimator

Job Summary

We are looking for a meticulous Construction Estimator to precisely calculate the costs involved in our upcoming residential building projects. This role involves examining blueprints, conducting detailed material quantity assessments, and obtaining competitive pricing from vendors for custom homes, multi-family buildings, and significant residential renovations. The objective is to provide accurate, profitable cost estimates that satisfy client budgets and the company's financial goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Carefully evaluate architectural plans, structural drawings, and client requirements for various residential projects, including single-family and multi-family developments.
• Utilize estimating software to perform precise quantity take-offs on materials such as framing, roofing, drywall, flooring, and decorative finishes.
• Engage with residential trade contractors like HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and framing teams to request and assess bid proposals.
• Maintain and regularly update a comprehensive cost database including residential materials, local labor rates, and permit fees.
• Collaborate closely with designers and clients to price upgrades, custom finishes, and cost-saving value engineering options.
• Prepare detailed budgets, scopes of work, and final proposals to be presented to clients.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Educational background with a degree or diploma in Construction Management, Building Technology, or related fields, or equivalent practical experience.
• Possess 2 to 5+ years of focused experience in estimating costs for residential construction or custom home projects.
• Proficient in residential estimating software such as Highrise.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for detailed cost analysis and reporting.
• Solid understanding of local residential building codes and zoning regulations.
• Exceptional attention to detail along with effective negotiation capabilities when dealing with trade vendors.
