Job description

Overview

Health Shared Services (HSS) is currently seeking a skilled compensation expert to join their Compensation & Job Evaluation team as an Advisor. This team is responsible for the design, upkeep, and delivery of the non-union exempt employee Compensation Program, serving ten health sector organizations. Situated within a Centre of Expertise, the team offers specialized compensation and classification knowledge and strategic guidance. This role demands a consultative, client-focused approach to build trust and provide business solutions in collaboration with healthcare organizations. The position is flexible regarding work location within Alberta, supporting remote, hybrid, or in-office settings.

Role Responsibilities

  • Deliver advisory services around compensation, salary management, and job evaluation directly to Human Resource Business Partners and leadership across healthcare organizations.
  • Develop and nurture ongoing client relationships to establish credibility and trust via a service-oriented approach.
  • Provide strategic guidance by analyzing client requirements and offering tailored compensation and classification solutions.
  • Design and disseminate educational resources, communications, tools, and support materials on compensation programs, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Support projects and initiatives related to compensation and job evaluation efforts.
  • Ensure program delivery complies with legislation, policies, and internal procedures while staying updated on evolving market trends and legal requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business Administration, or related discipline with an emphasis on Human Resources.
  • Three to five years of relevant professional experience handling compensation programs and performing job evaluations.
  • Expertise in developing policies, processes, and guidelines for compensation and job evaluation.
  • Strong consulting, advisory, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills with a commitment to client-centered service.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within teams and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Additional Details

  • Position reports to the Compensation & Job Evaluation unit within HSS.
  • Permanent full-time role with a standard work schedule of 7.75-hour shifts, Monday to Friday, with weekends off.
  • Salary range extends between $31.64 and $54.36 per hour.
  • Work pattern is primarily days, with flexibility for hybrid workplace arrangements across Alberta.
