Commissioning Manager - Senior Controls/BMS

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Controls/BMS Commissioning Manager to join a global leader in the mission-critical data centre sector based in Dublin. This senior position entails responsibility for leading commissioning excellence on large-scale infrastructure initiatives worldwide.

Key Duties

• Direct and oversee global controls commissioning activities spanning multiple ongoing projects.
• Create and implement standardized commissioning methodologies covering all phases from planning through handover (Levels 0 to 6).
• Serve as the resident subject matter expert for Building Management Systems (BMS), Building Automation Systems (BAS), Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and SCADA.
• Ensure that design intentions meet operational performance criteria.
• Supervise integration of mechanical and electrical systems and equipment.
• Lead commissioning project planning, scheduling, sequencing, and tag management processes.
• Conduct technical validation workshops and system completion planning sessions.
• Maintain strict compliance with safety protocols including Permit to Work (PTW), Safe Systems of Work (SSOW), and Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO).
• Manage vendor and contractor interfaces for Owner Furnished Contractor Installed (OFCI) and Contractor Furnished Contractor Installed (CFCI) systems within complex delivery environments.
• Develop, review, and approve commissioning documentation, test scripts, and procedures.
• Oversee loop checks, point-to-point testing, functional tests, and system startup activities.
• Handle punch lists, defect tracking, and structured close-out efforts.
• Collaborate with Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) teams to ensure high-quality commissioning outcomes with minimal rework.
• Utilize data-driven approaches for decision-making employing completion and commissioning tracking systems.
• Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies throughout commissioning execution and system handover.
• Provide leadership and guidance to commissioning teams and address underperformance among stakeholders.

Experience and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical, Mechanical, Control Systems, Mechatronics, or related fields.
• More than 10 years of commissioning and/or controls engineering experience within complex infrastructure projects.
• Extensive experience in data centre or mission-critical facility environments is highly desirable.
• Additional experience in sectors such as oil & gas, power generation, pharmaceuticals, or large-scale infrastructure is advantageous.
• Demonstrated ability to lead commissioning teams in matrix or multi-stakeholder settings.
• Strong knowledge of project delivery processes from commissioning planning through to handover.
• Project management credentials or equivalent practical experience.
