Role Overview
As a Commis 3, your day will involve a variety of culinary preparation tasks to support kitchen operations, ensuring food quality, safety, and presentation standards are consistently met.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients by portioning, chopping, and storing food prior to cooking.
- Accurately weigh, measure, and blend ingredients using kitchen tools and equipment following recipes or discretion.
- Clean and peel fresh fruits and vegetables as necessary for cooking or serving.
- Cook dishes according to established recipes.
- Serve meals such as soups, desserts, sides, and main courses with proper portioning and attractive plating.
- Maintain food presentation standards including proper portion size and garnish for service staff or guests.
- Keep food storage areas hygienic and organized.
- Prepare all potentially hazardous foods at temperatures that comply with HACCP guidelines.
- Adhere to strict personal hygiene practices to guarantee safe food for consumption.
- Follow all food safety and handling regulations diligently.
- Communicate effectively with the Chef during busy periods to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Monitor food quality and inform management if products fail to meet required specifications.
- Regularly check appliance and food temperatures using thermometers and thermostats, oversee freezer system operations, and report any malfunctions promptly.
- Report any maintenance concerns immediately to management or maintenance teams.
- Stay informed about company food safety programs and adhere to relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
- Demonstrate resilience and capability to work effectively in demanding or high-pressure conditions.
- Track food quantities prepared and portions served to minimize waste and avoid discarding good food.
