Commis 2 - Wet Deck Production

Position Overview

The Commis 2 role at W Hotels involves preparing ingredients for cooking by portioning, chopping, and storing food items. The position requires washing and peeling fresh fruits and vegetables as well as measuring and mixing ingredients accurately.

Cooking and Food Preparation

Responsibilities include preparing and cooking food in accordance with recipes, ensuring quality and presentation standards are met, and following food preparation checklists. This involves preparing cold dishes and using kitchen appliances such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers. The Commis will test food items for proper cooking and monitor food quality continuously. Setting up and breaking down the workstation is also essential, alongside serving food in correct portions on appropriate receptacles.

Cleanliness and Safety

The role entails thorough cleaning and disinfecting of the kitchen areas, tools, knives, tables, and equipment. Ensuring correct temperatures of appliances and foods is necessary. The employee must comply with all company safety and security policies, report any maintenance or safety issues, complete requisite safety training, and maintain professional personal appearance and confidentiality of company information.

Teamwork and Communication

Clear and professional communication is expected within the team. The Commis 2 supports the team to achieve shared goals, listens attentively to colleagues, and responds appropriately to their concerns.

Physical and Operational Requirements

The job requires standing, sitting, or walking for prolonged periods, as well as physical movements such as bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. The ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 25 pounds unassisted is necessary. Additional reasonable tasks may be assigned by supervisors as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• A minimum of one year of relevant work experience.
• No supervisory experience required.
• No specific licenses or certifications needed.
