Commis 1 - All Day Dining

Position Overview

The Commis 1 role at JW Marriott Dubai involves preparing specialized meals and substitutes, managing cooking temperatures across various equipment such as ovens and grills, and ensuring ingredients are properly thawed and stored. The position also requires maintaining accurate food logs, overseeing quality and portions, and coordinating with chefs and food & beverage staff regarding menu specials and stock availability.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food items following recipes, quality, and presentation standards.
• Manage and regulate cooking appliances including ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters.
• Ensure proper portion size, arrangement, and garnish of dishes.
• Maintain food storage and thawing processes according to standards.
• Communicate effectively with the kitchen team during busy periods and report excess food for daily specials.
• Inform service staff about menu specials and out-of-stock items.
• Assist management with staff hiring, training, scheduling, evaluation, counseling, discipline, motivation, and coaching.
• Adhere to all company safety, security, and hygiene policies and procedures, reporting any maintenance or safety issues promptly.
• Maintain professional appearance and confidentiality of company information.
• Support team collaboration by building positive working relationships and responding empathetically to concerns.
• Perform physical tasks including standing or walking for extended periods, and handling objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Execute additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications and Experience

• Possession of a Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Degree.
• A minimum of three years of relevant work experience in a similar role.
• No prior supervisory experience required.
• No specific licenses or certifications mandated.
