About the Role
An established Irish main contractor seeks an experienced Commercial Manager to join their senior leadership team. This pivotal position involves steering commercial strategy, managing an experienced commercial team, and contributing significantly to the company's sustained growth. The company operates across a varied portfolio that includes high-value commercial, residential, healthcare, education, hospitality, and mixed-use development projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial oversight for several construction projects from pre-construction phases through to final account closure, ensuring robust commercial performance.
- Administer contracts, manage commercial risks, variations, claims, and finalize accounts effectively.
- Monitor project budgets, oversee forecasting, manage cash flow, and produce monthly commercial reports.
- Implement cost control measures to maximize profitability on projects.
- Negotiate commercially with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Contribute to procurement processes and oversee subcontractor relations.
- Develop and sustain strong collaborative relationships with clients, consultants, and project stakeholders.
- Mentor Quantity Surveyors and junior commercial team members to foster skill development.
- Provide commercial updates and strategic advice to senior management.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possess a degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
- Demonstrable experience as a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor within a main contracting environment.
- Thorough understanding of construction contract law and contract management procedures.
- Proven ability to manage multiple construction projects simultaneously.
- Possess strong commercial acumen, financial management, and contractual administration expertise.
- Exhibit excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Be proactive, with a problem-solving mindset dedicated to delivering successful project outcomes.
Benefits and Additional Information
- Annual salary range of €120,000 to €130,000 plus benefits, negotiable based on experience.
- Hybrid work arrangement with two days working from home weekly.
- Provision of a company vehicle and fuel card or alternatively a car allowance.
