Job description
Position Overview
Lead the global commercial functions and business growth efforts across Oil & Gas, Dredging, Marine, Offshore, EPC, and infrastructure projects. Champion strategic partnerships, contract governance, and sustainable commercial success to boost profitability and secure a lasting position in international markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute global commercial strategies, tendering structures, pricing policies, and client engagement plans to enhance competitiveness, increase revenue, improve profit margins, and fuel regional and global expansion.
- Supervise all stages of the commercial cycle including opportunity scouting, pre-qualification, bid coordination, contract negotiation, risk control, claims handling, and contract administration, ensuring alignment with corporate rules and international standards.
- Manage commercial, business development, tendering, estimating, contracts, and proposals across global operations, setting performance benchmarks and operational frameworks for measurable commercial outcomes.
- Identify and secure new business prospects through market research, networking, client relationships, industry intelligence, and liaison with partners and government authorities.
- Direct preparation and submission of complex international bids and proposals ensuring technical, commercial, financial, and contractual excellence.
- Lead high-level commercial negotiations to obtain advantageous terms, reduce organizational risks, and cultivate long-term partnerships.
- Implement stringent contract management for diverse agreements in EPC, offshore, marine construction, vessel operations, and Oil & Gas services while guaranteeing compliance with all legal and contractual commitments.
- Provide strategic commercial counsel to executives on market dynamics, project risks, pricing, competitors, expansion strategies, and contract liabilities affecting financial and operational performance.
- Oversee commercial risk evaluation and mitigation relating to contracts, finances, operations, geopolitics, and regulations involved in international projects.
- Support claim preparations, change management, dispute resolution, extensions of time, settlements, and arbitration to protect company interests and maximize financial recovery.
- Collaborate with operations, engineering, procurement, finance, legal and project management teams to ensure commercial consistency throughout project delivery and cost control.
- Monitor financial metrics like project margins, revenue forecasts, KPIs, cash flow exposure, pricing models, and cost-saving initiatives to optimize commercial profitability.
- Build and sustain relationships with clients, government bodies, oil companies, marine operators, port authorities, consultants, EPC contractors and vital stakeholders to enable repeat business and strategic alliances.
- Conduct commercial due diligence on mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, joint ventures, and consortia to evaluate viability, risks, and sustainability.
- Maintain compliance with international laws, regulations, anti-bribery policies, corporate governance, and ethical business practices.
- Establish and refine commercial policies, procedures, governance standards, templates, and reporting tools to enhance consistency, transparency, and efficiency.
- Lead and develop diverse commercial teams by fostering high performance, career growth, succession, knowledge sharing, and collaborative culture.
- Track market trends, competitor behavior, geopolitical shifts, energy sector changes, maritime laws, and economic factors to anticipate challenges and opportunities.
- Assist executive management with strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, investment analysis, and growth initiatives focused on international ventures.
- Represent the company at senior level meetings, client briefings, industry events, and negotiations to uphold commercial interests and corporate reputation.
- Champion continuous enhancements through leveraging digital tendering solutions, data analytics, benchmarking, and performance management to drive commercial efficiency and decision quality.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Commercial Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Law, Finance, Marine Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Master's degree (MBA or equivalent) in Business Administration, Commercial Management, Project Management, Engineering Management, or relevant field is strongly preferred.
- At least 15 years of progressive experience in similar sectors with a proven leadership track record.
Professional Certifications
- Preferred certifications in Commercial Management, Contract Management, Project Management, or Procurement disciplines.
- Recognized credentials such as MRICS, PMP, CCM, CPCM, MBA or analogous international commercial qualifications are advantageous.
- Knowledge of FIDIC, NEC, EPC, BIMCO, offshore marine contracts, and international arbitration procedures is highly valued.
