Overview
A distinguished Irish company within the construction supply sector is seeking a Commercial Director to join its senior leadership team in Cork. This leadership role will oversee the entire commercial performance and play a pivotal role in guiding the company’s strategic future.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Managing Director and senior leadership to develop and implement commercial strategies.
- Lead, inspire, and nurture a commercial team with about 5 to 6 direct reports.
- Steer revenue growth, margin improvement, and overall profitability.
- Manage commercial planning processes, budgeting, and forecasting activities.
- Enhance sales efficiency, productivity, and commercial outcomes.
- Build and sustain strategic partnerships with essential customers and suppliers.
- Direct strategies for customer acquisition, retention, and key account management.
- Leverage market, customer, and competitor intelligence to inform decisions.
- Champion commercial transformation and continuous improvement programs.
- Collaborate closely with operational units and other departments.
- Contribute thoughtfully to the organization’s long-term strategic vision.
Candidate Profile
- More than 10 years of commercial experience, including senior leadership roles.
- Proven success in leading and developing high-achieving teams.
- Accountability for revenue, margin, profitability, and overall commercial success.
- Strong commercial and financial insight.
- Experience in substantial B2B organizations.
- Developed skills in managing customer, supplier, and senior stakeholder relationships.
- Adept at blending strategic planning with hands-on operational execution.
- Experience in construction products, building materials, or merchanting is highly preferred.
- Candidates from related fields such as distribution, wholesale, manufacturing, and engineering products are also encouraged to apply.
