About the Role
The Cocoa Sustainability Assistant position at PT Asia Cocoa Indonesia supports the implementation of the Good Cocoa & Beyond sustainability initiative. This role involves assisting in the strategic management and operational execution of sustainability projects aimed at enhancing the wellbeing of cocoa farmers and fostering responsible supply chains. The role requires organization, self-motivation, and excellent project management expertise. The assistant will work closely with the global Cocoa Sustainability Manager and project teams in producing measurable benefits for cocoa-growing communities.
Responsibilities
- Assist in drafting and reviewing project proposals and reports to ensure accurate documentation.
- Oversee budget preparation, monitor expenditures, and provide regular financial reporting.
- Support day-to-day project activities, coordinating efforts among partners to meet defined objectives.
- Track and analyze key project performance indicators to evaluate progress effectively.
- Develop presentations reflecting sustainability strategies for stakeholders including suppliers and customers.
- Create promotional content such as brochures, videos, and social media posts to communicate project impact.
- Draft and update relevant policies, procedures, and strategic framework documents as required.
- Support Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) functions by collating data and preparing impact assessments.
- Maintain program databases and documentation frameworks.
- Contribute to formulating new project proposals and identify potential funding sources.
- Collaborate with trading and marketing teams regarding sustainability commitments.
- Build and nurture relationships with diverse stakeholders including donors, civil society groups, and industry entities.
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Experience managing and coordinating projects, especially in budgeting, planning, and delivery phases.
- Skills in financial tracking and reporting.
- Proficiency in data monitoring, KPI analysis, and preparing comprehensive impact reports.
- Ability to engage and work effectively with varied stakeholder groups, including cross-cultural and interdisciplinary teams.
- Capacity to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
- Interest in sustainability concepts, sustainable supply chain management, and responsible sourcing.
- Strong IT capabilities for database management and data analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
- Knowledge of agricultural supply chains and corporate responsibility frameworks.
Desired Qualifications and Experience
- Experience designing and implementing projects in rural or agricultural regions of Africa, Asia, or Latin America aimed at improving livelihoods.
- Familiarity with multicultural collaboration and working across various time zones.
- Cross-functional teamwork experience.
- Fluency in French and/or Spanish preferred.
- Understanding of thematic areas such as third-party certification, living income, human rights, climate change, and traceability.
- Relevant academic credentials including a degree or master’s in sustainability or related disciplines, supplemented with project management and sustainability training.
