North Queensland Hardfacing (NQHF), operating since 1996, is a forefront provider of tungsten carbide hardfacing solutions. The company specializes in innovation and cost-effective methods to extend the lifespan of loader and digger bucket components, reducing maintenance schedules for both fixed and mobile equipment across locations such as Burdekin, Mackay, Mount Isa, and the Hunter Valley.
Job Overview
We are looking for experienced CNC Machinists to join our team on a full-time and permanent basis. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure CNC machines are operational and efficiently producing high-quality parts while adhering to safety and maintenance protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify that CNC machines are properly functioning before setup.
- Operate software and hardware to conduct tests, inspections, and repair machinery or programs as required.
- Perform CNC programming tasks as instructed or necessary.
- Manage equipment operations to maximize efficiency and maintain thorough documentation.
- Optimize usage of materials, collaborating with programmers to minimize waste.
- Inspect final products for precision and consistency to maintain product quality and company standards.
- Clean and maintain drive rails, ensuring they remain undamaged.
- Mark and store cut items and offcuts according to program sheets.
- Inform management when consumable inventory reaches reorder levels.
- Report any safety issues or maintenance needs immediately to supervisors.
- Execute daily, weekly, and monthly machine maintenance tasks such as lubrication, cleaning, and tool replacement.
- Consistently follow safety procedures at all times.
Candidate Profile
- Possess trade qualifications with over five years of relevant CNC machining experience.
- Proficient in CNC machine operations including profile cutting and drilling.
- Able to interpret and work from engineering drawings and technical instructions.
- Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Committed to maintaining accuracy and quality standards.
- Experience with multi-torch, plasma, and oxy cutting methods.
- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Open and adaptable to operating new machinery.
- Knowledgeable about various steel types and metals.
- Reliable, self-driven, and possesses a strong work ethic.
- Self-starter who can take direction well.
- Forklift operation skills are preferred but not required.
- Works well within a team environment.
