Role Details

An exciting permanent full-time position is open for an experienced Clinical Coder with a distinguished private healthcare organisation located in Sydney's Inner West. You will play a crucial role in ensuring timely and accurate coding of inpatient episodes across numerous hospitals. Your contributions will enhance patient data quality, appropriate DRG classification, compliant billing, and healthcare outcomes.

Working across various clinical areas, you will engage in supportive collaboration with clinicians and healthcare professionals in a quality-driven environment. Continuous guidance is provided by an experienced Team Leader, with the possibility to shift to a hybrid work model post-probation.

Key Duties

• Assign ICD-10-AM, ACHI, and ACS codes to inpatient records accurately using electronic medical records.
• Ensure adherence to Australian Coding Standards and National Coding Guidelines.
• Examine clinical documents and coordinate with clinicians to clarify unclear or incomplete information.
• Support exact DRG allocation and maximize private health funding results.
• Complete coding tasks within designated turnaround times while upholding quality standards.
• Participate actively in documentation enhancement projects and coding quality audits.
• Contribute to ongoing improvements in Clinical Coding and Medical Records procedures.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• At least 3 years' experience as a Clinical Coder in an Australian hospital environment.
• Profound understanding of ICD-10-AM, ACHI, and ACS coding protocols.
• Experience within private health care and familiarity with private health funding mechanisms.
• Meticulous attention to detail with a dedicated focus on coding accuracy and compliance.
• Strong communication and organizational skills, competent at managing multiple priorities.
• Team-oriented mindset with a genuine enthusiasm for ongoing learning and skill enhancement.

Additional Information

• Salary ranges from $85,000 to $95,000 annually plus superannuation.
• Work-life balance is promoted, with the head office conveniently located 5 km from Sydney's CBD.
