Role Overview

The Client Director position involves leading Capgemini's efforts in securing significant public sector transformation projects within New Zealand, focusing on large-scale national programs such as ERP modernization, digital initiatives, data strategies, and business transformations. This senior leadership role demands expertise in cultivating trusted relationships with C-level executives and steering complex, multi-year sales campaigns that strategically position Capgemini as a preferred transformation partner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic growth initiatives within the public sector by managing senior sales campaigns for complex transformation projects including ERP, digital, cloud, cybersecurity, applications, business transformation, and managed services across major New Zealand public sector accounts.
  • Develop and maintain trusted engagements with top executives including Chief Executives, CIOs, CFOs, program leaders, and senior commercial personnel to align with strategic priorities and influence procurement ethically.
  • Direct comprehensive pursuit activities such as account strategy, stakeholder analysis, win strategy development, qualification, competitive positioning, partnership alignment, commercial planning, and bid execution for high-value programs with extensive sales cycles.
  • Coordinate internal teams and navigate both formal and informal decision-making networks to achieve consensus among business and technology stakeholders and design transformation proposals highlighting public value and operational resilience.
  • Mobilize Capgemini’s local and global resources, including leadership, industry specialists, architects, delivery executives, and alliance partners, to support key pursuits with appropriate investment and executive focus.
  • Manage a robust pipeline of qualified public sector opportunities, maintaining pursuit plans, governance, risk management, and commercial discipline to meet ambitious growth objectives.
  • Enhance Capgemini’s market positioning by contributing insights on public sector reforms, ERP upgrades, digital government, sovereign capabilities, AI, cloud, cybersecurity, and delivery excellence.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven executive-level experience in senior sales, business development, or client partnership leadership within professional services, consulting, technology, or system integration, especially with a successful track record in public sector transformation programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with CxO-level executives in the public sector, creating trusted advisory partnerships and influencing strategic purchasing decisions prior to formal procurement.
  • Experienced in managing complex negotiations involving multiple stakeholders, extended sales cycles, RFP processes, governance, commercial terms, and executive sponsorships.
  • Documented achievements in securing or shaping significant transformation deals related to ERP modernization, digital government projects, cloud implementations, data initiatives, cybersecurity, or critical platform transformations.
  • Deep understanding of the New Zealand public sector environment, including government decision-making, procurement regulations, probity requirements, budgeting cycles, risk management, and public value priorities.
  • Strong capability to align and motivate diverse internal teams across matrixed organizational structures, including delivery, solution design, commercial, legal, alliances, and global business units in support of key pursuits.
  • Exemplary executive presence, commercial acumen, and resilience to maintain credibility with senior clients, partners, and internal leaders under high-pressure strategic situations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, capable of shaping persuasive sales stories, executive presentations, proposal documents, win strategies, and board-level updates.
