About Us
G4S Oakhill Secure Training Centre (STC) provides care for children aged 12 to 18 who are remanded or sentenced to detention. The young people in our care often face vulnerabilities and challenging behaviors, requiring high-level social care and supportive service delivery. We aim to create a secure, stable environment fostering development of life skills and positive behavioral change. Our goal is to help each child feel safe, recover from trauma, and build confidence to make healthy life choices.

Role Overview
We seek a full-time Cleaner to maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards across designated areas in alignment with contractual requirements and operational needs of the facility. You will be part of the Facilities Management team, helping ensure consistently high standards of cleanliness and safety.
Main Responsibilities
- Follow the cleaning specifications outlined in the contract accurately.
- Complete cleaning tasks at scheduled times to avoid disrupting centre operations.
- Report building maintenance faults promptly to the FM helpdesk.
- Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies in storage cupboards to maintain adequate stock levels.
- Keep cleaning cupboards and work areas tidy and ensure consumables are stored safely and in compliance with regulations.
- Maintain up-to-date COSHH documentation to support the use and storage of cleaning chemicals.
- Inspect cleaning equipment for safety before use and ensure proper training and competency for equipment operation.
- Contribute to fostering a positive Health & Safety culture by leading through example, reporting incidents and near misses promptly, and adhering to safe work systems.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties required at a similar responsibility level.

- Previous experience in a cleaning role with the ability to work to high standards and strict schedules.
- Dependable and conscientious with a flexible and adaptable approach to shifting priorities and scenarios.

Additional Information
This position is subject to thorough background checks and strict vetting according to G4S and Youth Custody Services standards. The role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK, have resided in the UK for at least 3 years, and provide full employment and education history for the prior 5 years as part of security screening. A current Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate is mandatory, and safeguarding the welfare of children remains a key responsibility for all employees.
