Job description
Overview
As part of our continued expansion and increase in tendering activities, we are looking to recruit a full-time Civil Estimator to work from our North Lakes office with a hybrid work arrangement. The ideal candidate will have hands-on estimating experience specific to utilities and civil infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze contract documentation including scopes and specifications during tender phases.
- Prepare lump sum pricing and bills of quantities for civil, utility, and infrastructure projects using fundamental estimation techniques and competitive supplier or subcontractor quotations.
- Incorporate risk management and safe construction practices into formulation of construction methods and scheduling with the construction team.
- Handle multiple tender submissions simultaneously.
- Prepare tenders with values ranging from $0.5 million to $15 million.
- Assess subcontractor and supplier price proposals and negotiate contract terms and conditions appropriately.
- Support the Construction and Commercial departments in identifying and compiling contract variations and extensions of time in compliance with main contract clauses.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or Engineering.
- Expertise in civil infrastructure or utilities sectors.
- Thorough knowledge of construction buildability, sequencing, risk factors, and efficiency.
- Excellent organizational capabilities and proficient time management.
- Proven track record of building and maintaining collaborative relationships with clients and internal teams.
- Ability to independently meet deadlines.
- Advanced competence in MS Excel with the ability to create tailored spreadsheets for tender purposes.
