Job Role Overview

We are looking for a meticulous and analytical Cost Manager to join our Engineering & Construction division based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This pivotal role involves overseeing project financials, developing detailed budgets, and maintaining cost control throughout all project phases. The position requires close coordination with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure projects adhere to approved financial targets with precision and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create detailed cost estimates and develop budgets for diverse engineering and construction projects.
  • Track and analyze expenses against budgets, detecting deviations and initiating corrective measures.
  • Generate comprehensive cost reports and financial forecasts for leadership and stakeholders.
  • Perform cost-benefit analyses and feasibility assessments to guide project decisions.
  • Lead contract negotiations with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to reduce costs while preserving quality.
  • Ensure proper cost documentation aligned with company policies and industry norms.
  • Use cost management software and ERP platforms to monitor and report financial data.
  • Collaborate with project teams to identify savings opportunities and enhance efficiency.
  • Assess and manage the financial implications of change orders on project budgets.
  • Provide expert guidance on cost management to project and engineering teams.
  • Ensure compliance with construction laws and regulations specific to Saudi Arabia.
  • Participate actively in project meetings, presenting cost performance updates to relevant stakeholders.

Candidate Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of experience in cost management within engineering and construction sectors.
  • Demonstrated skills in cost estimation, budgeting, and financial forecasting.
  • In-depth understanding of construction techniques, project delivery models, and industry standards.
  • Proficient with cost management systems and ERP solutions such as SAP, Oracle, or similar.
  • Advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel and analytical data tools.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving capabilities, and keen attention to detail.
  • Experience in managing contracts and negotiating with vendors.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently under tight timelines.
  • Fluent written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Preferably experienced in projects located in Saudi Arabia or the wider Middle East region.
  • Familiarity with Saudi Arabian construction regulations and compliance guidelines is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of risk management and contingency planning is a plus.
  • Proven success in implementing cost controls and realizing cost efficiencies.
  • Related professional certification in cost management is desirable.
  • Strong teamwork abilities and capability to collaborate cross-functionally.
