Due to ongoing expansion and a robust pipeline of major projects, the company is looking to onboard an experienced Civil Engineering Estimator at their Limerick office.

Role Summary

The Civil Engineering Estimator will be a key contributor within the pre-construction team, responsible for preparing competitive tenders, precise cost evaluations, and commercial documentation for prominent infrastructure developments. This permanent, full-time position offers a chance to work on a wide variety of infrastructure projects including roads, bridges, utilities, earthworks, and public works schemes throughout Ireland.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed cost estimates, pricing schedules, tender submissions, and cost plans for civil engineering undertakings.
  • Analyze technical drawings, specifications, bills of quantities, and tender documents to ascertain project scope and requirements.
  • Solicit, evaluate, and compare quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Detect project risks, identify opportunities, outline exclusions, and recommend value engineering alternatives during the tender phase.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal departments.
  • Assist in preparing commercial clarifications, tender queries, and bid documentation.
  • Keep meticulous records of all estimates, assumptions, quotations, and tender documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with pre-construction, commercial, operations, and business development teams to ensure timely and accurate tender completion.

Candidate Profile

  • Degree holder in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or similar fields.
  • Between 3 to 5 years of practical estimating experience in construction or civil engineering sectors.
  • Experience working with main contractors is highly advantageous.
  • Solid grasp of civil engineering, infrastructure projects, heavy civil works, and public works schemes.
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, commercial judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Capacity to interpret complex drawings, specifications, tender documents, and bills of quantities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and attention to detail capabilities.
  • Ability to operate independently while maintaining effective collaboration with diverse teams.
  • A practical and commercially-aware mindset focused on solution delivery.
