Job Overview
This full-time, permanent position at Bristol City Council invites you to become a part of the Childminding Support Team, which includes four support workers and the Childminding Lead. The team is fundamental in identifying, assisting, and advancing childminders citywide by delivering information, advice, and professional development to foster a high-quality, inclusive, and diverse childcare workforce.
Key Responsibilities
You will apply your clear insight into the significance of childminders within early years education, confidently providing both support and constructive feedback grounded within the Early Years Foundation Stage framework. Your role involves working closely with childminders, supporting use of the Bristol Standard, and facilitating childminding groups in conjunction with the Early Years Improvement team.
Requirements and Skills
Applicants must have hands-on experience in a childminding environment and direct engagement with children and parents to offer informed guidance on superior childcare and early education practices, effective parental partnership, and knowledge of business and regulatory frameworks. You must hold a graduate-level qualification related to early years.
Communication and Collaboration
Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills are essential, with adaptability for various audiences. Reporting to the Childminding Lead, you will operate professionally within a supportive team and collaborate extensively with colleagues in the wider early years sector.
Work Arrangement and Flexibility
The role demands willingness to work some evenings and occasional Saturdays to assist with training delivery, as well as the ability to commute within Bristol to visit childminders. The position operates in a hybrid model, combining home-based work with office presence at the Early Years Team, Southmead Children’s Centre.

Recruitment Process

Minimum education
Bachelor's Degree
