Role Overview

We are seeking a Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to lead Binance's information security operations in Korea amid important regulatory expansion. The position demands an expert who can integrate enterprise-level cloud security practices with Korea's particular regulatory context. This role entails primary accountability for the technical security stance and compliance dialogue, functioning as the principal security spokesperson both internally and with Korean regulators.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all aspects of security certification processes from conducting gap analyses to ensuring audit readiness and final approvals.
• Act as the chief point of contact for Korean financial authorities such as FSC, FSSC, and KISA concerning security and data protection matters.
• Interpret local regulatory mandates into actionable security protocols and convey these effectively to Binance's global teams.
• Organize and oversee yearly IT security risk evaluations.
• Develop and implement Korea-specific information security strategies aligned with Binance's global standards.
• Supervise cloud security design ensuring compliance with both world-class policies and regional regulatory demands.
• Direct programs related to incident response, threat modeling, and vulnerability assessment for both local and global markets.
• Lead the information security teams through recruitment, professional development, and performance oversight.
• Collaborate closely with the global CISO office, engineering, legal, and compliance teams to maintain security alignment and integrity.
• Advocate and negotiate security requirements on a global scale, asserting needs or aligning strategies as necessary.
• Coordinate with external consultants and independent auditors during certification and audit procedures across markets.
• Deliver leadership reports on security status, potential risks, and regulatory timelines ensuring transparency.
• Present ongoing risk assessments and updates on security matters to relevant stakeholders.

Candidate Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Information Technology, Cyber Security, or a related discipline.
• Over 10 years’ experience in information security, including a minimum of 3 to 5 years in senior leadership positions such as CISO or Head of Security.
• Direct, practical exposure to managing ISMS or ISMS-P certification in Korea, preferably leading a successful audit cycle.
• Extensive knowledge of Korean financial and digital asset regulations including FSC guidelines, PIPA, and KISA standards.
• Comprehensive understanding of cloud security frameworks and contemporary enterprise security architectures.
• Proven capacity to work collaboratively across multiple departments including engineering, compliance, and legal.
• Fluency in English and Korean to effectively engage with international partners and internal teams.
• A results-driven mindset with strong ownership and accountability for achieving outcomes.

Preferred Experience

• Background in financial institutions, cryptocurrency exchanges, or fintech companies.
• Experience managing security functions during regulatory audits or enforcement periods.
• Direct engagement experience with regulatory authorities.
• Relevant professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, ISO 27001 Lead Auditor, or equivalents.
