Role Overview

The Chief Human Resources Officer will steer all HR operations organization-wide and act as a strategic partner to the Board and executive leadership. This role covers organization development, talent acquisition and retention, compensation and benefits, employee engagement, training and compliance. The CHRO will cultivate a culture of high-performance aligned with company values and drive business transformation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate and implement long-term HR strategies in line with corporate objectives and transformation plans.
  • Enhance organizational capabilities by designing optimal structures, roles, and reporting hierarchies; lead change management initiatives.
  • Set up HR governance, policies, and standard procedures across all divisions.
  • Lead recruitment and employer branding efforts to secure top leadership and critical talent.
  • Oversee succession planning and nurture pipelines for high-potential employees.
  • Deploy retention and employee engagement programs to lower attrition rates.
  • Develop competitive compensation and benefits programs through market benchmarking and conduct salary reviews.
  • Manage payroll, statutory compliance, and benefits administration throughout all locations.
  • Implement performance management systems promoting accountability and oversee review cycles.
  • Build learning mechanisms through training and leadership development programs.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive culture aligned with company ethos; handle employee grievances and disciplinary issues.
  • Organize employee engagement, internal communication, and team-building activities.
  • Guarantee adherence to Indian labor laws, statutory provisions (EPF, ESI, PF, gratuity, etc.), and regulatory mandates across all states.
  • Supervise workplace safety, health initiatives, and conduct risk assessments with mitigating actions.

Key Qualifications & Experience

  • Graduate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or relevant field; MBA or PGDM preferred.
  • At least 18 years of advancing HR leadership experience, including a minimum of 5 years as a Group CHRO or Head of HR.
  • Extensive background in large, complex, multi-location organizations with 2,000+ employees.
  • Expertise in strategic HR management, organizational change, talent development, and employee relations.
  • In-depth understanding of Indian labor laws, compliance standards, and statutory requirements.
  • Proficiency in HRIS platforms, data analytics, and workforce data management.
  • Strong communication skills, stakeholder management, and strategic orientation.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in FMCG, consumer goods, or manufacturing industries.
  • Familiarity with family-run or mid-size enterprises.
  • Hands-on expertise in digital HR transformation and technology deployment.
  • Experience engaging with Boards or C-suite executives and corporate governance.
  • Professional HR certifications such as CIPD, SHRM, or equivalents.
