Position Overview
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for this prestigious energy company, located in Doha, Qatar, leads the full spectrum of financial operations and strategic financial governance. The CFO oversees diversified assets, including oil & gas exploration and production, energy infrastructure, power generation, and extensive energy investments spanning the Middle East and other global regions. This role demands a visionary financial strategist committed to securing financial sustainability, optimizing capital use, and supporting sizeable strategic growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and implement a comprehensive corporate financial strategy aligning with long-range business targets.
- Act as a trusted financial advisor to the CEO, Board, and shareholders, influencing key decisions.
- Direct the corporate planning, budgeting, forecasting, and monitoring of financial performance.
- Secure and structure financing solutions for energy and infrastructure projects, spearheading negotiations with banks, development finance institutions, export credit agencies, investors, and governmental bodies.
- Oversee debt issuance, equity raising, refinancing processes, and capital restructuring endeavors.
- Manage financial aspects of concessions, production sharing contracts (PSCs), joint ventures, and public-private partnerships, ensuring adherence to fiscal terms and compliance requirements.
- Administer partner financial reporting, cash call coordination, entitlement calculations, and investment outcome assessments.
- Lead treasury functions encompassing liquidity management, cash flow oversight, foreign exchange exposure, commodity price risks, and overall financial risk control.
- Institute strong financial governance through establishing and maintaining robust enterprise controls and compliance frameworks.
- Ensure thorough compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and other relevant global accounting standards, facilitating audits, statutory reporting, tax planning, and regulatory adherence.
- Drive the evaluation and execution of mergers, acquisitions, divestments, and strategic investments through rigorous financial due diligence and economic evaluation.
- Build, mentor, and guide high-performing finance teams across multiple international offices, fostering a culture focused on accountability, performance, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration is essential.
- Postgraduate qualifications like MBA, or professional certifications such as CPA, CA, ACCA, CMA, or their equivalents are preferred.
- Extensive finance leadership experience spanning at least 20 years, including a minimum of 10 years occupying executive roles such as CFO or Finance Director.
- Demonstrated expertise within upstream oil & gas operators, energy sectors, infrastructure, or concession-driven enterprises.
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience with production sharing contracts, concession agreements, joint ventures, public-private partnerships, project finance, and energy investments.
- Proven track record operating successfully in the Middle East region and managing cross-border responsibilities involving diverse jurisdictions.
- Established capability in managing relationships with governments, regulatory bodies, lenders, investors, and shareholders.
