Its curriculum focuses on foundational scientific concepts and their practical applications.

Position Overview

The College invites qualified Master’s degree holders to apply for the role of Chemistry Laboratory Instructor. The instructor will play a key role in designing, preparing, and facilitating various chemistry lab courses such as General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Health Sciences Chemistry, Biochemistry, and additional science laboratory classes to support university programs.

Candidate Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and test laboratory experiments ensuring all equipment, chemicals, reagents, and materials are ready for instructional use.
• Supervise lab activities promoting safety and adherence to correct procedures.
• Teach students experimental methods, theoretical background, safety protocols, and guide data collection and analysis.
• Assess student work including laboratory reports and assignments providing constructive feedback.
• Offer office hours for student support regarding lab work and assignments.
• Collaborate in the ongoing development and refinement of lab curricula, manuals, assessments, and teaching materials based on outcomes and evaluation.
• Ensure the laboratory meets safety standards including chemical handling, storage, labeling, waste disposal, risk assessment, and emergency readiness.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly lab environment encouraging sustainable use of resources.
• Manage lab equipment, coordinate maintenance and repairs as needed.
• Perform administrative duties such as record-keeping, inventory control, and scheduling lab sessions.
• Work with colleagues to compile necessary lists of lab materials and equipment.
• Stay informed about the latest developments in chemistry and instructional techniques through professional development.
• Participate in university committees related to curriculum, assessment, student success, and community engagement.
• Attend departmental meetings and training sessions as required.
• Undertake other duties assigned by the Department Head.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Master’s degree in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
• At least three years’ full-time teaching experience in English-medium higher education, specifically delivering chemistry laboratory courses.
• In-depth knowledge of fundamental Chemistry concepts and laboratory methodologies.
• Proven understanding of lab health and safety, including chemical management and emergency protocols.
• Experience operating and maintaining common chemistry lab instrumentation safely.
• Dependability, professional responsibility, and adaptability in managing teaching environments.
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, coupled with strong interpersonal abilities to foster a collaborative workplace.
• Ability to work effectively within a team setting demonstrating collegial spirit.
• Good organizational and time-management capabilities.
• Passion for teaching and commitment to student learning through practical experiential methods.
