Job description
Job Summary
This full-time, permanent Chef position is based at the Benaulim campus, working from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM with a weekly off. Reporting to the Hostel Coordinator, the Chef's primary responsibility is to cook daily vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals adhering strictly to a specialized weight-loss diet programme for hostel residents. Additionally, the Chef prepares dishes precisely as featured in IWLD's recipe videos for shoots, ensuring authentic reproduction without deviation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare all meals daily for residents according to prescribed diet and portion controls, maintaining consistent quality and taste.
- Reproduce recipe dishes for video shoots by studying IWLD’s YouTube recipe videos in advance and following them to the letter without improvisation.
- Organize and prepare ingredients and mise en place to ensure smooth kitchen operation during shoots, including managing repeat takes and presentation for the camera.
- Plan weekly menus and ingredient procurement well in advance, monitor and control stock quality, storage, and wastage within budget limits.
- Maintain impeccable kitchen cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety standards, ensuring separation of raw and cooked, vegetarian and non-vegetarian food and reporting any health or facility issues immediately.
- Supervise and coordinate kitchen helpers and cooks for efficient preparation, serving, and cleaning activities, including training helpers to meet kitchen standards.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven prior professional cooking experience required in vegetarian and non-vegetarian cuisine, preferably in hotels, restaurants, hostels or institutional kitchens; formal culinary education is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Ability to watch, understand, and accurately recreate recipes from video tutorials using a smartphone.
- Strong personal hygiene and kitchen discipline, punctuality, and reliability are essential.
- Proficient communication skills in Hindi; knowledge of Konkani, Marathi or English is a plus.
- Physical fitness to endure full kitchen shifts and availability to commute daily to the Benaulim campus; accommodation is not provided.
- Experience with low-oil, low-carb, or diet cooking and familiarity with food safety or hygiene protocols are desirable.
Work Environment and Collaboration
The Chef will collaborate closely with the Hostel Coordinator, kitchen team members, the media and content team for video shoots, purchasing agents, facilities management, and company directors to uphold menu standards and resident satisfaction.
Compensation and Additional Details
Salary ranges from ₹20,000 to ₹30,000 per month based on experience and trial evaluation. No food or accommodation is provided, so local candidates are preferred.

A paid trial period will be conducted as part of selection, with comprehensive training provided on diet requirements, kitchen operations, and shoot protocols. This role does not include food or lodging for candidates; applicants should be prepared to commute daily to the campus.
